Milestone 4’s goal is here, so let’s get started!
The Neighborhood
The Neighborhood
For the first level I wanted to start off with a basic neighborhood of people surrounding the player. It’s a nice and sunny day and a good day to start grilling, however, everyone is out today, and as soon as they smell the burgers cooking, they’re coming for them. I wanted to take a unique and humorous approach where instead of Grilling out in the backyard, it’ll be the front yard, kind of like you’re bragging to your neighbors that you’re grilling.
The Cabin
The Cabin
Well, the neighbors are gone and you might get in trouble for what happened at the neighborhood…so why not grill in somewhere private? But wait, you’re alone in the woods, grilling burgers, what of the local animal life? The main scenario for this level is it introduces unique enemies that will come for your burger patties. I want the player to also be introduced to the in-game shop (when it’s added and introduced) before coming to this level for the player to challenge themselves to cook more burger patty’s before they lose the game. The second level is a giant and much more broader experience, as everything you see into the distance is blocked off by the simple green stylized art style that I’ve chosen for the game. If you look carefully in the picture above, there’s a 4 legged animal stalking around the woods.
To Hell
The next level in development you will be going to Hell. Here, you will be grilling on a floating rock, doing your grilling thing, but the demons around you are flying to you to steal your patties. This level will introduce the first set of flying enemies that the player will have to use the utensil gun for. If the utensil gun isn’t unlocked the player cannot progress further or else they’d get their patties taken easily. In terms of development, the idea is prototyped and not white boxed, I want to make sure the level design story is okay for the audience of the game contributes to the humor of the game.
Gameplay Update
Gameplay will be this coming Week#4 Blog posts with videos of playtesters playing out the first level. The second level AI needs more implementation and variety, as there’s only one type of animal currently in the level. However, the first level has the gameplay set up, the base of the idea, and is ready for testing.
