Virtual & Augmented Reality – PSVR The History of Sony
By CJ Sharkey
Why not show the players the history of Sony and their entrance to the game industry!
So, up above I wanted my inspiration to be the general history of Sony and their game industry changes. I think it’s an important concept and amazing VR experience where the player can interact with original Sony things, and include meme things such as scenarios where the Playstations had really loud fans and just the general history of the consoles and everything Sony has done for the game industry.
What Hardware would you need?
This entire experience will be developed for the PSVR and Playstation 4 itself. This experience will go over how specific interactions, tech issues, industry meetings, and things and historical events that Sony has gone through as a company, from beginning and entering the game industry, to where it is today. This includes experiences like from their games and their studios, such as VR experience from today’s God of War, to an experience of Crash Bandicoot from 1996. Players can interact and learn experiences and examples in games in a VR environment.
How would this Physically & Virtually Feel?
NOSTALGIA
So far, the big thing that has been inspiring lately in 2021 and 2022 is Nostalgia from so many experiences. Many classics have been re-released and they still keep on coming. Physically, a lot of the target audience this experience will target will have nostalgic experiences seeing these games and it will affect them emotionally and inspire them on how far we have come in terms of technology. Virtually, they’d see the history and concept of Sony, and what games they’ve made, the consoles, interact with consoles, putting a CD virtually in a PS1, or even a PS2, to get that feeling and interaction of where they’ve been. Including being able to take apart consoles and handhelds to look at their manufacturing to experience the history that Sony has been apart of.

Where’d this come from? What Inspired me?
Well recently I’ve been watching a lot of history documentaries about the history of video games, and there was an extremely interesting topic about Sony in general. It actually connected a lot and I researched on what the target audience liked about the documentary, and it was Sony’s involvement in the industry. It interested me so much that I thought making a conceptual experience of their history since its PSVR exclusive. It gets players interested where Sony started, and having a VR experience where you can actually be in environments of games with the low pixel graphics, to modern games today such as God of War, it’d be nostalgic for the players that experience it.
